Luxembourg Plans on Recognizing Palestine

(MENAFN) Luxembourg aims to formally acknowledge Palestine as a sovereign state later this month during the UN General Assembly in New York, local outlets reported Monday.

Prime Minister Luc Frieden and Foreign Minister Xavier Bettel disclosed the plan before a parliamentary commission, according to the accounts.

Last Friday, the UN General Assembly passed a resolution supporting the “New York Declaration,” which intends to recognize a Palestinian state and promote a two-state resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian dispute.
